L’été est arrivé et la première partie de notre saison 2018 s’achève ! Le temps pour nous de faire un mini-bilan de nos actions… Évènement phare de ce premier semestre : les 2° Rencontres européennes de l’architecture qui se sont tenues du 17 au 19 mai dernier, entre Reims, Strasbourg et Nancy.

Organisées de concert avec nos chères consœurs du Grand Est, la Maison de l’architecture de Champagne Ardenne (MA-CA) et la Maison européenne de l’architecture – Rhin supérieur (MEA), ces journées ont pour vocation de mettre en lumière le travail d’architectes européens. Après le Portugal en 2017, c’est l’Allemagne qui était à l’honneur cette année. À Reims, Peter Wilson de l’agence Bolles+Wilson, installée à Münster, a présenté son travail le 17 mai. Amandus Sattler, architecte munichois était l’invité de la MEA-RS à Strasbourg le 18 mai, honorant de son parrainage la nouvelle génération d’architectes du Grand Est.

Et à Nancy, c’est la très dynamique et engagée Janin Walter que nous recevions ! Elle représentait le Studio berlinois Urban Catalyst, au cours de la journée du 19 mai, qui a été ponctuée par une série d’évènements autour de l’architecture contemporaine et participative.

Ateliers & exposition

Après un déjeuner à l’emblématique café Excelsior avec les invités de cette 2° édition des REA, les petits ont pu s’initier à la conception architecturale, encadrés par Cécile Demange, vice-présidente de notre association, dans les salles d’arts plastiques de la MJC Lillebonne.

Pendant ce temps, les plus grands ont pu découvrir l’architecture contemporaine et le centre ville de Nancy au cours d’une belle balade sous le soleil, emmenés par Gilles Marseille, Maître de conférences en histoire de l’art contemporain à l’Université de Lorraine.

Au retour, les promeneurs – parmi lesquels nos invités d’honneur ! – ont assisté à la présentation de la maquette produite par les enfants. Janin Walter s’est prêtée au jeu du jury et Jean-Marc Charlet, président du Conseil de l’ordre des architectes du Grand Est, nous a fait l’honneur de leur remettre la maquette.

Ce fût également l’occasion pour tous de découvrir le travail du Studio Urban Catalyst, grâce à une exposition présentée dans l’une des nombreuses salles de la MJC Lillebonne. Résolument engagés dans une démarche participative, les architectes berlinois n’hésitent pas à s’installer parfois jusqu’à plusieurs mois dans les quartiers sur lesquels ils réfléchissent, invitant les habitants à participer activement à cette réflexion par le biais d’ateliers et de moments de convivialité et de parole, où chacun peut s’exprimer comme il le souhaite.

    

Conférence & table ronde

La présentation de cette petite exposition était un avant-goût du point d’orgue de ces trois jours de conférences et d’évènements.

Dans le très beau cadre du Musée des Beaux-Arts de Nancy, Janin Walter a détaillé la démarche du Studio Urban Catalyst, conférence suivie d’une table ronde réunissant Janin Walter, Amandus Sattler, l’architecte strasbourgeois d’origine allemande Dominik Neidlinger et l’architecte nancéien Denis Lermechin de l’agence In Situ Architectes pour clore ces 2° Rencontres européennes de l’architecture.

Sur le thème de l’architecture et de l’urbanisme participatif, nos invités ont débattu abondamment, confrontant leurs points de vue et leurs expériences ; cette discussion riche et très intéressante, animée par Cécile Demange, s’est poursuivie dès la fin du débat, avec le public, autour d’un buffet dinatoire offert par la Maison de l’architecture de Lorraine.

The summer came and the first part of our 2018 season ends! The time for us to make a mini-balance sheet of our actions … Key event of this first half of the year: 2 ° European Meetings of the architecture which were held from 17th until 19th May of this year between Reims, Strasbourg and Nancy.

Organized in cooperation with our dear colleagues of the Grand Est region, the House of the Architecture of Champagne-Ardenne (MA-CA) and the European House of the Architecture (MEA), these days had for vocation to highlight the work of European architects. After Portugal in 2017, Germany had the honour this year. In Reims, Peter Wilson from the agency Bolles+Wilson, located in Münster, presented his work on May 17th. Amandus Sattler, architect from Munich was guest of the MEA in Strasbourg on May 18th, honoured us by sponsoring the new generation of architects from the Grand Est region.

While in Nancy, we received the very dynamic and committed Janin Walter! She represented the Berlin Studio Urban Catalyst on May 19th, which was punctuated by a series of events around the contemporary and participative architecture.

Workshops and exhibition

After a lunch in the symbolic Café Excelsior with the guests of this 2 ° edition, the children learnt about the architectural design, supervised by Cécile Demange, our vice-president, in the arts rooms of the MJC LILLEBONNE.

Meanwhile, the older ones discovered contemporary architecture and the city center of Nancy, guided by Gilles Marseille, Lecturer in history of contemporary art to the University of Lorraine.

Back from their exploration, the walkers, among which was our guests of honor, attended the children’s presentation of the model they produced.

Janin Walter got into the spirit of being a judge and Jean-Marc Charlet, president of the Council of the Order of the Architects of Grand Est region, recognised the children by giving them back their model.

There was also an opportunity for all to discover the work of the Studio Urban Catalyst, thanks to an exhibition presented in one of the numerous rooms of the MJC LILLEBONNE. The Berlin architects were resolute in their commitment to a participative approach. They did not hesitate in settling down, sometimes for several months, in the districts on which they are working on. Inviting the locals to participate actively in this reflection through workshops and moments of warmth and communication where all can express themselves as they wish.

Conference and round table

The presentation of this exhibition was a teaser of the culmination of these three days of conferences and events.

In the very beautiful setting of the auditorium of the Museum of the Fine arts of Nancy, Janin Walter detailed the approach of the Studio Urban Catalyst. The conference was followed by a Round Table gathering Janin Walter, Amandus Sattler, the Strasbourg architect of German origin Dominik Neidlinger and the Nancy architect Denis Lermechin of the agency in Situ Architects to close these 2 ° Architectural European Meetings.

Regarding the theme of architecture and participative town planning our guests discussed abundantly. Confronting their points of view and their experiences, this rich and very interesting discussion led by Cécile Demange continued after the debate with the public around a buffet dinner supplied by the House of the architecture of Lorraine.
